Another new utility in WinME is called the System Restore. This utility will take a snapshot of your PC and it's programs and allow you to go back to a previous state when occasional problems may have been discovered. You can return your computer to a previous state with these three options...
- Date: Restore the system to how it was at any specific moment in time prior.
- Event: If you suspect that an event, such as a program install, messed up / damaged your system files...you can go back to the way the system was before this event took place.
- System Checkpoint: These are daily, multiple checkpoints that are stored for a maximum of two weeks. The system can be restored to these.
If the results of the System Restore aren't what you expected, then you can restore to the original system settings. Although, any data files that you may be working on in your My Documents folder ( Excel or Word ) will not revert back to the previous versions.
These are only a few of the many new features in Windows Millennium Edition. As I discover more and get continued feedback, this section will grow. Thank you for your time!
