To create a shortcut to the
notepad.exe in \Windows\SendTo folder, simply
- Click Start, select Programs and start Windows
Explore
- Then select the \Windows\SendTo folder
- Now, right-click an empty space in the folder, and from the
context menu, choose New > Shortcut
- In the Create Shortcut window, enter
C:\Windows\Notepad.exe in the Command line box
- Now click Next
- At this point, you should remove the .exe from
Notepad.exe in the Select a name for the shortcut box
- Finally, click Finish
You will now have the
option of viewing file contents by right-clicking the file and 'sending'
it to Notepad
One last note: If there is another drive in which Windows is
installed, or in another directory, then you'll need to replace the
C:\Windows\ with the appropriate path.
Use Win 3.x Interface With
Win95
To use the Win 3.x inteface with Win95, go
to the Root Directory ( C:\Windows ) and double-click
Progman.exe...you will then have Windows95 ( or Win98 ) running
under the Windows 3.x interface.
Find Desktop Icons
To find other icons, look in (
C:\Windows\Moricons.dll ) by right-clicking any shortcut and
selecting Properties from the pop-up menu and then click on the
Shortcut tab. Now, click on the Change Icon button and
look through the .ICO, .DLL, and .EXE files.
CD-Rom Autorun--Turn It
Off
When a CD-Rom is inserted into the CD-Rom
drive, Windows automatically launches the program contained on the disk
( CD ), and starts playing it automatically. To disable this
function...
- Select Start > Settings > Control Panel
and then double-click on the System Icon
- Choose the Device Manager tab
- Now click on the + sign to the left of
the CDROM entry and then select the entry for your CD-Rom drive
- Click on Properties and choose the Settings tab
- At this point, you can uncheck the Auto insert notification
box
- Then, click OK and then OK once again. Now, you need
to restart Windows for this setting change to take effect

- Right-click on the Desktop and select New >
Shortcut
- Then, in the Command line box type...
rundll.exe
user.exe,exitwindows
for one click shut down
AND /
OR
rundll.exe user,exitwindowsexec
for
one click restart
Finally, click Next and give it the appropriate name (
such as Shut Down or Restart )
